Summary[]

She is the daughter of Rob Baker's friend Thomas Norburt (Truborn), aka Double T. Lisa is from Sherman, Connecticut and came to Fort Greene to look for her father. She and Rob first met at the Fort Greene Men's Shelter where they both asked about Double T.

Using some clues, including a postcard that Lisa's father had sent her, Rob discovers that Double T and her father are the same person. They go to the Department of Veteran's Affairs to ask Rob's father where Double T might be. He helps Lisa understand some about the reason behind her father's odd behavior, by explaining that war veterans can have many troubled memories and may have trouble expressing their feelings, even to their own families. Colonel Baker is unfortunately unable to find a current address for Double T.

Eventually, they are able to talk to a homeless man named Hush. He tells them of a subway tunnel that he and Double T used to sleep in, and that there is another entrance since the one they had previously used was sealed. Lisa wants to go to the tunnel, and Rob reluctantly agrees to go with her. They both find the place, but are trapped by a cave in.

Lisa is extremely frustrated at their seemingly hopeless situation, berating herself for coming into the tunnel. She ridicules Rob for creating a message out of stones on the ground. However, Rob stays calm, even telling her a story that he had written. Lisa enjoys the story very much and tells him that he is a really good writer. She then helps Rob with another message that he is creating, stating that perhaps the "rescue vibes" (Rob's explanation for creating his first message) will bring her father to her.

Later, they hear Double T, who has gone into the tunnels with Jamal's father and another person, calling from nearby. They find him looking down from above. Lisa asks her father to shine the light he is holding to himself so that she can see his face.

After getting out of the tunnel and going to Jamal's house, Lisa and her father talk together, including him stating how hard it was to adjust to usual life after the Vietnam War. Lisa asks her father to see her high school graduation.
