By the way, a weird thing happened at dinner. Jimmy Ito told Mr. Velasquez that he wanted to bag the rest of the bike tour and go home! When Mr. V asked him why, Jimmy wouldn’t give an answer. Anyway, after dinner we popped popcorn on the campfire and told more stories. No ghost stories this time, but folklore and stuff like that. Fiona told a story about Ireland, which is where her parents were born. And Bones told a bunch of Civil War stories (he’s from the South—New Orleans, I think).

Revision as of 02:37, 6 December 2019

In the Ghostwriter book Disaster on Wheels, Lenni had written in her journal. The third journal entry was written in the evening of the second day of the bike tour.

TUESDAY, 9:00 p.m. It’s really nice out. But I can’t seem to enjoy it. I can’t stop thinking about what almost happened to Alex this afternoon.

Plus the ghost last night.

What’s going on? I mean, I know the dog thing was probably just bad luck, but aside from that it feels as if someone —or something—is after us.

By the way, a weird thing happened at dinner. Jimmy Ito told Mr. Velasquez that he wanted to bag the rest of the bike tour and go home! When Mr. V asked him why, Jimmy wouldn’t give an answer. Mr. V. told him to hang in there for another day or two and see how he felt then. Jimmy didn’t look too happy about that.

Why would Jimmy want to go home?

Anyway, after dinner we popped popcorn on the campfire and told more stories. No ghost stories this time, but folklore and stuff like that. Fiona told a story about Ireland, which is where her parents were born. And Bones told a bunch of Civil War stories (he’s from the South—New Orleans, I think).

At one point Bones said our campsite was near an old battlefield, and Ariel got this gleam in her eye and said, “Well, then, there must be lots of ghosts around here! You know, ghosts of dead soldiers!”

I think she likes freaking people out.

Well, I’d better wrap this up. Everyone’s heading for bed.

I hope I don’t hear any ghosts tonight.
