Dr. Singhla, appeared in the "Over a Barrel" story arc. She was portrayed by Madhur Jaffrey.

She is a sweet and friendly doctor with many years of experience. During the events of the "Over a Barrel" arc, the Fort Greene Community had a recent outbreak of nausea, vomiting, dizziness and fainting. One of these people happened to Gaby Fernandez.

One day, she and her friends were helping Sally Lewis turn a local vacant lot into a community garden. When suddenly, Gaby suddenly took ill and fainted. She prescribed Gaby to take one pill for nausea every eight hours.

Then soon enough, the Ghostwriter team discovered the reason why people were getting sick. The reason was because some time long ago, a dishonest hauling company called "Miller's Hauling Co." illegally buried partially emptied barrels of Tetrachloroethylene (Perc) to save money from disposing of them properly. This poisoned the soil and the vegetables growing in it. Also it polluted the air in the garden.

When Alex Fernandez find out that the poor rabbits living in the garden had died, he did some research on the chemical. He found out that out exposure to Perc, could dizziness, fainting spells, or an irregular heartbeat leading to death. He was worried sick so he phoned her.

When she spoke to Alex on the phone she assured him that Gaby would make a full recovery. She tested Gaby thoroughly and found out Gaby had no traces of Perc in her body. Also she informed Alex that a human would have to have a long time exposure to Perc for it to cause serious or fatal consequences. She also advised him to keep his sister away from the garden. Then before hanging up,  Alex thanked her for helping him find out that his sister would be all right. Then she thanked him for informing her about how Gaby got sick in the first place.
